Gryphon Heights was built on a hill originally. Castle is located at the top with a landing area for the Gryphons. Every place in that castle was built with them in mind. Over time they came to have their own pasture. A fenced off location that you didn't enter without permision from one of the gryphons. It had sunbathing rocks and a grove with caves. Gryphon Heights also sported areas beside the castle for the Heralds to live and learn as well as a few other important persons. The whole section was walled in with a main gate.
Sprawled around the hill, were streets spiraling down. The extreme rich had their own large walled mansions that they lived in, a good quarter of them them having estates and lands they lived at elsewhere too. Towards the bottom of the spiral were manors with either beautiful walls or fences but significantly smaller in size and extravagance. It was there that Saber lived. Or did.
Standing on the front steps of her home, she hid her bewilderment and hurt at being sent away. Her family could afford tutors. If there was something she could learn, surely it could be in this great city. The carriage, large with plush insides and pulled by four matching brown horses was waiting in front of her, signalling to inevitable. Her luggage was stowed on top and covered in carefully tucked canvas. Misty had said she had strong will power, but she hadn't even tried to talk her family out of this. It wasn't her place and she was too much a lady to act less than graceful.
Walking carefully, her fine dress with embroidered edges flowing about her, Saber approached the carriage. The footman had already set the step up for her and now opened the door for her. She accepted his hand, though she really didn't need it, and took a step up and was in. Settling herself inside, Saber looked out as the door was being closed. Misty was sitting on top her house smiling at her. Misty, the one who never held grudges or let things get her down for long. Saber's sunshine. It was going to hard without her friend.
The carriage jerked with a start and headed in a curve on outside their gates. Saber imagine the ride ahead of her. The spiraling streets ending at the bottom on the hill. There was a wall there, but since the city had long since expanded, the gates had been removed. It would be like the rest of the way out of Gryphon Heights. As the city expanded beyond the borders of the walls, new walls had to be built. Now any threat of invasion was unlikely and if it occurred they would never reach the capital so new walls had not been built for the furthest edges of the city. The other gates though were still intact in the other walls. So even if these could not be closed, they could.
Leaning back and forcing herself to practice the medication that Misty had taught her, Saber began to prepare herself to stay calm and be ready for whatever new life awaited her.
